Nancy Vaden Obituary

Nancy Marie Vaden born in Hamlin, Texas to Arche E. and Lucille Brydson Pardue on November 10, 1935, died peacefully in the early morning hours of March 27, 2024.

Nancy grew up in Stamford, Texas where she attended school and graduated from Stamford High School in 1953. In Stamford she built many of the life-long friendships she truly cherished. Several of these were made while attending St. John's Methodist Church or while participating in Campfire. Stamford was extremely special to Nancy. It was there she created countless wonderful and well-recollected memories. She also met her husband Charles there in the 6th grade. Nancy briefly attended SMU and later married Charles Douglas Vaden on February 20, 1954. After moving numerous times while Charles was in the service or for work, they eventually settled in Joshua where she lived since 1976. Nancy was a homemaker, an avid bridge player, and later retired from TCJC's Business Dept. where she worked as a secretary.

Nancy took great pride in making her house a home and collecting whatever she found beauty in; artwork, pottery, and jewelry were some of her favorites. She had a talent for taking nothing and turning it into something, a trait she passed on to her children. She loved playing the piano, baking sugar cookies for her kids when they were young, swimming, researching family history, watching wildlife around the tank, and making holidays special for her family.

She also loved her brothers dearly and spoke of them often in her last days.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Burt and Arch Pardue, her husband, brothers & sisters in law Bill & Paula Carlton, Ray & Dana Anderson, and Walter & Joan Vaden.

She is survived by daughter Matilda Bolin (Danny) of Stamford, TX; son Doug Vaden (Kathy) of Joshua, TX; daughter Marie Cox of Germantown, TN; sister-in-law Becky Pardue of Austin, TX; sister-in-law Clare Pardue of Dallas, TX; granddaughter Kristin Benson (Steve) of Burleson, TX; grandsons Brice Bolin (Brenda) of Stamford, TX; Blake Bolin (Camie) of Fort Worth, TX; Craig Vaden of Fort Worth, TX; Lance Vaden of Fort Worth, TX; Tyler Cox (Ashlyn) of Houston, TX; great-grandsons Bryson Clay Bolin, Ethan Bolin, Avan Bolin, Mason Medlock, and Parker Cox; great-granddaughter Campbell Cox and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

The family would like to thank Chrissy Howle for the amazing care she provided Nancy, along with the owners and staff of the Shaw House in Cleburne, and Heart to Heart Hospice of Cleburne for making her last days comfortable.

The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.

Memorials in honor of Nancy's life may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, Stamford, TX or West Texas Rehab of Abilene.
