JOSHUA -- A. Q. Howell, 81 of Joshua a retired electrician and owner of Union Hill Grocery, died Sunday June 28, 2009 at his home in Joshua. Funeral: 10 a.m., Thursday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Hopewell Cemetery in Joshua. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. A.Q. Howell was born August 31, 1927 in Moore Haven, Florida to Amedicus Quincy and Ila Beatrice Sudberry Howell. He was a 20 year Veteran of the U.S. Navy, proudly Serving his country during the Korean War. He married Charlene Faye Nutt on March 6, 1981 in Durant Oklahoma. He liked playing golf, watching TV, and loved his customers at Union Hill Grocery. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Amedicus "Med" Howell; a brother; and three sisters. The family would like to thank Mission Hospice's angels of mercy for their loving care of A.Q. and our family. Survivors: Wife, Charlene Howell of Joshua; sons, Rick Howell and wife Cathy of Orlando, Florida, Jimmie Carpenter and wife Abbie of Fort Worth, Jeff Carpenter and wife Melanie of Maypearl, Jason Carpenter and wife Lisa of Cleburne; brothers, Frank Howell and wife Steve Ann of Ocala, Florida, Wiley Howell and wife Lou of Ocala, FLorida; and ten grandchildren.
