Adrian Wayne Watson

July 18, 1926 — June 23, 2014

Adrian Wayne Watson, 87, woke up to sleep no more on Monday, June 23, 2014. Praise God he has a new body and is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Family and friends now living in Glory welcomed him home. Service: 9:30 AM, Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Joshua Baptist Church. Interment: 11:30 AM, Thursday at DFW National Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 PM, Wednesday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. A.W. was born July 18, 1926, in Anna to Lawrence R. and Nez Shields Watson. He served aboard an LST in the U.S. Navy, in the Pacific Theater, in WWII. He married the love of his life, Mollie E. Rhudy in 1948. He surrendered his life to Jesus in 1949 and soon embarked on a lifetime of love sharing the Gospel. He pastored churches in Oak Cliff and Grand Prairie. He served as a senior's minister at the Joshua Baptist Church for the past 20 years. He loved those he pastored and greatly enjoyed caring for friends. A.W. was always ready to go fishing, watch a baseball game, tell an Aggie joke or eat fried catfish. He could name every highway in Texas and then come up with a rhyme or song to make you laugh. A.W. ran the Turkey Trot in Dallas with his granddaughters in later years. He was a fierce competitor at the 42 table, if you were his partner - you'd better be on your toes. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed being with them. A.W. was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mollie E. Watson; daughters, Mollie J. Lowery (Lloyd), Betty R. Henderson (James); son, Charles W. Watson (Peggy); 3 brothers; 8 grandchildren, Jim Watterson, Cathy Marshall, Amy Evans, Leland Lowery, Kevin Watson, Jason Watson, Lauren Mahaney and Lisa Northup; 22 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren, extended family and friends. A special thanks to Angel Hands Hospice and the staff at Avalon Memory Care. We will miss you, so for now it is goodbye beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye - we will see you again! Pall Bearers: Andy Northup, Jack Mahaney, Jim Watterson, Leland Lowery, Kevin Watson and Jason Watson.
