Albert Ray Long, 91 of Whitney, a retired aircraft and construction worker, passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, in Temple. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Emerald Hills Memorial Park, Kennedale. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Ray was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was born April 20, 1919, in Randolf to Higginbotham "Doc" and Donna Pearline Jurdan Long. He married Mary Louise Watson on Dec. 3, 1939, in Bonham. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a 32nd degree Master Mason. He enjoyed "puttering" around and loved life to the fullest. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years; grandson, Lonnie Long; and son, Weldon Long. Survivors: Son, Harvey Long and wife, Judy, of Kennedale; daughters, Barbara Gore of Watauga, Dena Monroe and husband, Mike, of Burleson; daughter in law, Barbara Long of Euless; brother, Clovis Long of Telephone; sisters, Gladys Keene and husband, Wade, of Bonham, Johnnie Naylor and Joe of Ivanhoe; grandchildren, Stephanie and husband, Joe, Jim and wife, Nakita, Kevin, Chad and wife, Carrie, Bubba and wife, Angela; great-grandchildren, Angela, Dallas, Caitlin, Chelsea, Johnathan, Jeffrey; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
