Alvin Derrel Hulcy was born July 3, 1935, and died Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the age of 86. Alvin grew up in Elbert, TX, graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University and an M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He enjoyed a fruitful ministry as pastor at Grace Temple Baptist Church in Henrietta, TX, then as a teacher at First Baptist Church Joshua, TX. He went on to have a successful career in engineering and eventually retired from Freeze & Nichols engineering firm as a Master Electrician and Professional Engineer.
Alvin was preceded in death by his first wife Ann Adams Hulcy, his mother Cordia Hulcy, father Silas Wesley Hulcy, and brothers Charles and Dale Hulcy.
He is survived by his wife Floy Sue Everett Hulcy, his sister Carla Hulcy Taack, sons Joel and Derrel Hulcy, daughter Kimberly Kelemen, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by stepson Bobby Everett, stepdaughters Cathy Watson and Susan Leal, 6 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren.
Alvin was a member of Lane Prairie Baptist Church in Joshua, TX. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed singing, playing guitar and watching high school football.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm, Monday, May 16, 2022, at Mountain Valley Funeral Home, 3407 SW Wilshire Blvd. Joshua, TX 76058.
Visitation will be 1 hour before the service.
Interment will be at Caddo Cemetery, 1901 Caddo Peak Rd Joshua, TX 76058.
