Alyce Egene (Evans) Mcmurry

Alyce Egene (Evans) McMurry, 95, of Crowley, passed away January 3, 2016. Service: 1:00 PM Friday, January 8, 2016, Mountain Valley Funeral Home, Joshua. Officiating: Reverend Douglas Helms, of Fort Worth. Visitation: 6-8 PM Thursday. Interment: Caddo Cemetery, Joshua. Alyce was born on November 21, 1920, was of Baptist faith. She was native, and longtime resident of Johnson County, Texas, a thirty year rancher in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, and a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church. Alyce was the daughter of Will L. and Alice (Felder) Evans. She married Lawrence James McMurry in 1938. He preceded her in death, July 4, 2003. Also preceding her in death was her father and mother, two sons, Wayne McMurry and James Lee McMurry, both of Crowley, daughter, Ann Coder, of Burleson, two granddaughters, Andrea McMurry and Cochuan McMurry, both of Crowley, five brothers, Ray B. Evans, of Amarillo, W. Grady Evans, of Lubbock, Eugene (Sonny) Evans, (missing in action as a Marine in WWII) J. Paul Evans, of Crowley, four sisters Pauline Evans, of Crowley Ruby Hinkel, Lydia Sutton and Ruth Sutton, all of Cotulla, TX. Survivors: sister, Sue (Evans) Howington, and husband Jim, three grandchildren, Stephen Coder, and wife, Heather, of Godley, Julie Ann Thames, and husband Eldon, of Crowley, Eric McMurry, of Crowley, four great-grandchildren, Wimberly Coder, of Godley, Andrew Thames, of Crowley, Daisy McMurry, Angie McMurry, of Crowley, daughters-in-law, Maxine McMurry, of Crowley, and Mrs. Ginny Dee Smith, and husband Jerry, of Joshua, and numerous extended family, friends, and loved ones.
