Andrew Paul Ustanik

February 27, 1936 — November 28, 2024

Our precious father, friend, grandfather, brother, uncle, and husband, Andrew (Andy) Paul Ustanik passed peacefully in Fort Worth, Texas on November 28, 2024. Andy was a dearly loved mentor in every way to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was kind and selfless, and his disciplinary skills in every feat he mastered never went unnoticed. Andy enjoyed life to the fullest and loved traveling with his late wife Ellie and met many friends of all ages along the way. He was an avid bowler, golfer and marksman and maintained those talents as he aged. Andy also had a passion for aviation that sparked in high school, which led him to join the United States Air Force after he graduated serving as an aviation mechanic. Andy was very proud of his service to our country and later became a pilot and purchased his own Cessna plane.

Andy was an entrepreneur while in Indiana and worked very closely with his brother Ed, who convinced Andy to move to Texas, where he later began a career at Mars Inc. employed on the SAR utilities team handling continuous heating and cooling maintenance until retirement. After retirement, Andy worked on building his own plane, explored investments, and loved repairing machinery on the property. However, the breadth of his time was spent traveling to different states with his wife Ellie -- visiting family and also helping his sons with any type of mechanical work that needed to be done. He loved staying busy, and he never missed any of the grandkids’ or great grandkids’ ballgames, graduations, or special events. Andy was young at heart and was often mistaken for being several years younger than he actually was. Andy will continue to inspire his loved ones because of his kindhearted discipline that had no boundaries. His strong, bright and selfless spirit will continue to be present in our lives.

Andrew (Andy) Ustanik was born to Andrew Paul Ustanik Sr. and Joanna (Jennie) Masura Ustanik in Highland, Indiana on February 27, 1937. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: brother Robert (Bob) Ustanik; sister Irene (Andrew) Kuiper; brother Arthur (Julie) Ustanik; sister Florence (Vigle) Vanzo; sister Delores (Joseph) Rogina; and brother Thomas (Evelyn) Ustanik.

Andy is survived by his older son, Michael Andrew Ustanik and his wife Teresa and their sons, Anthony Michael-Ross Ustanik and his wife Diana (his children, Kiara, Holly and Jakub) and James Austin Ustanik; his younger son, James Andrew Ustanik and his wife Tamara (Tammy) and their children Anthony Lee Susa and his wife Crystal (their children, Dylan, Logan and Colbie), Lauren Valerie Burch and her husband Jason (their children, Carly and Dane), Brittany Paige Clark and her husband Jacob Clark (their children Morgan and Cameron); his late brother-in-law Archie’s children: his niece Kristen Lynn Evans and her husband Jeff (their children, Haley and Isaac), his nephew Peter Joseph Nemeth and his wife Mary (their children, Ellie [named after Aunt Eleanore], Kailynn and Mason); and his brother Edward (Ed) Ustanik and his wife Sarah (their children and grandchildren).
