Barbara Kuhlman, 84, passed away Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021. She was born Aug. 23, 1936, in Minco, Oklahoma, to Loyd and Mildred Collins. In 1953, she married her loving husband of 58 years, Verl Kuhlman. She and Verl shared five children, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Barbara loved being a mother and grandmother and adored them all, as they did her. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.
Barbara grew up in Minco and attended three country schools in Grady County.
During her lifetime, Barbara displayed her love for children by working in a daycare just down the street from their home and walked to work every day. She worked at the Plant Shed where she developed a greater love of plants. Some of her work can be seen in some of the most upscale businesses in Fort Worth. There wasn't a question she couldn't answer about any type of plant or rosebush or flower. She was a laid-back type of gal that took things as they came and handled them with grace and dignity.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Carol Lynn, parents, brothers Raymond and Bill Collins and sister Marjorie Souders.
She is survived by her sons, Terry and his wife, Phyllis, Shorty and Donnie and his wife, Helen; daughter, Susie Martin; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-granchildren; brother, Lloyd Collins; sister, Linda Harris; special sister, Maxine Bamburg; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021, at Union Hill Cemetery. Barbara's great-grandaughter, Lexi, will sing two songs that Barbara has chosen. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021, at Mountain Valley Funeral Home.
