BURLESON -- Betty Gregg, 81, a retired nurse, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at her residence in Burleson. Funeral: 9 a.m. Friday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Burleson. Interment: 3 p.m. in Dennison Cemetery in Idabel, Okla. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Cure PSP Foundation, Executive Plaza III, 11350 McCormick Road, Hunt Valley, Md. 21031. Betty was born Aug. 2, 1926, in Hayworth, Okla., to Thomas Stewart and Maggie Lorene Rino Havins. She married Eugene "Gene" Gregg on April 13, 1963 in Parris, Texas. She was a devout Christian and member of First United Methodist Church of Joshua. She was a member of the Outreach Social Studies Club and First United Methodist's Women and was the "Angel Tree" coordinator for her church. She was also a member of the Thursday Study Club and served two terms as president. She served on several church conferences, participated in several mission trips, worked with the Emmaus Walks and assisted with unwed mothers in Joshua. Betty also served on the committee to incorporate the town of Cross Timbers and served as alderman and treasurer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene Gregg, on July 9, 2005; son, Thomas Mitchell, on Oct. 1, 2000; a daughter, Nita Kay Mitchell; one brother; and two sisters. Survivors: brother, Harold Havins; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
