CROWLEY -- Bettye Jean Ellis, 81, of Crowley, a retired secretary for Film Pak Inc., told her family on Wednesday, Sept. 17 2008, she was going to be with the Lord, and she joined him on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, with her loving family by her side. Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: 4 p.m. Tuesday in Woodman's Cemetery in Seymour. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Bettye was born April 28, 1927, in Millsap to Albert F. and Elizabeth Jane Wiley Garrett. She married William L. Ellis on Feb. 10, 1955. Mrs. Ellis was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 6872 in Crowley. She was a Baptist and loved taking care of her kids and grandkids. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Karen Elizabeth Ellis Campbell; brothers, Arby, T.J. and Lloyd Garrett; sisters, Dollie Davis and Mary Opal Thomas. Survivors: Son, Sam Ellis and wife, Kerry, of Crowley; daughter, Susi Ellis of Crowley; sister, Nell Diamond of Perkinston, Miss.; grandchildren, Asa, Laura, Jamie, Aaron, April, Garrett; and eight great-grandchildren.
