Billy Edward Monroe Bryant

December 7, 1933 — August 22, 2022

Billy Edward Monroe Bryant was born in the Bono area of Johnson County on December 7, 1933, to Willie Roland (W.R./Bill Bryant) and Edna (Winsett) Bryant.  Billy passed away peacefully late Monday afternoon on August 22, 2022, in Burleson, Tx.

After his first few years in the Bono Area, his family moved to Joshua where he went to school and graduated from Joshua High School in 1951.  After graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Jeffie Hildebrand, on December 6, 1951.  Jeffie preceded Billy in death in November 2002.  They had celebrated 50 years of marriage on December 6, 2001.  Billy’s parents also preceded him in death with his mother, Edna, passing in 1980 and his father, W.R., passing in 1990.  His sister, Verna Mae Owens, also preceded him in death.

Billy was a longtime member of the Joshua church of Christ and often led singing there.   In his later years, he attended Central and Westhill churches of Christ in Cleburne.  He was a member of the Granbury Street church of Christ at the time of his death.

Following graduation and marriage, Billy served stateside in Massachusetts during the Korean War.  Upon returning to Texas, he went into the dairy business until 1972.  After that, he worked for a short time at Johns-Manville before entering the insurance business with American National Insurance Company.  Billy retired from Anico at age 74 after 33 years of service.

During the years Billy’s sons were growing up, he often would coach them in Little League and Pony League baseball at the JBA park in Joshua.   He also supported them in their FFA endeavors and helped to organize the first buyers group to purchase the Joshua FFA kids projects at the Johnson County Junior Livestock Show Sale.

Billy’s smile and laughter will be missed as well as his generosity and willingness to help his family.

Billy is survived by his 3 sons; Dennis and his wife, Teresa,  of Joshua, TX  and daughter Amy Casey and husband Matt, and daughter Heather;  Kevin and his wife, Fran, of Bay City, TX  and daughter Meredith Curwick and husband Dallas with children Ethan, Reilly, and Brightyn, and son Cameron and his wife Jessie with son, Chase; Eric and his wife, Tanya, of Joshua, TX and son, Mitchell and daughter Micah.
