Bobby Ray Isbell

June 5, 1957 — February 16, 2020

Bobby Ray Isbell was born in Haskell, TX on June 5th, 1957 to Lee Roy Isbell and Ruby Mae Scheets. He went to meet Jesus, the very one he preached and taught about for 38 years on Sunday, February 16th, 2020 at 12:00 pm surrounded by his loving family.

Bobby grew up with his parents and 6 siblings; Kenneth, Sandra, Roy, Jerry, James, and Cynthia in Haskell, Texas where he attended elementary school, middle school, and graduated from Haskell High School in 1976. That same year he moved to Grand Prairie to find a job, and 2 years later ended up finding his future bride, and daughter-to-be, Nancy and Angela Dyer. They married on November 11th, 1978. The very next year on September 30th 1979, they were blessed with Bobby Ray (booger red) Isbell II.

They then moved to Euless, TX where he reignited his childhood passion for coon huntingwith some friends and in the midst met Gene Wolfenbarger who became a dear friend and inspired him with his love for Jesus. Bobby saw the way he lived and the resonating love he had for Jesus and strived for that same feeling. Not long after he packed up his family and moved to Joshua, TX in 1984. He then began seminary at Arlington Baptist College and transferred to Norris Bible Baptist Institute. He attended Joshua Baptist Church in its early years leading the hymns, teaching Youth Sunday School and after being called to preach becoming the Associate Pastor and right-hand man to Bro. Wolfenbarger for 6 years. He then accepted a Senior Pastor position where he led Liberty Baptist Church in Abilene, TX for 6 years, next was California, then back to Texas, where he started his own church in Bertram, TX. 10 years later he went on to preach all over the U.S. for many years until he was called home by Jesus.

Bobby was preceded in death by his father Lee Roy Isbell, his mother Ruby Mae Scheets, his brothers Kenneth and James Isbell, his sister and brother-in-law Sandra and Jacky Sanders, his nephew Clifford Isbell, and his grandson Talon James.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Isbell and their 2 kids.  Angie and her husband John  E. Martinez and their kids Brooke, Jonathon, and Marcus.

Little Bob and his wife Whitney Isbell and their kids Tanor, Scarlett, Stella, and Vivian.  His brothers and sister; Roy Isbell, Jerry and Karen Isbell, and Cynthia and Tommy Clark, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and an infinite number of friends.

Bobby had a very unique way of showing his love. He was passionate about providing a good life for his wife and children above all else. He would give anyone and everyone the shirt off his back in a heartbeat. He enjoyed many things like fishing, hunting, camping, singing, and preaching. He was always on the go and never sat still.
