Bonnie Sue Dixon

June 28, 1941 — October 17, 2022

Bonnie Sue Dixon (born Thompson), affectionately known as “Nanny,” went to be home with the Lord on October 17, 2022. Bonnie was born on June 28,1941, in Benton, Arkansas, to J.B. and Mildred (Willey) Thompson. The youngest of six daughters and the only blond in an otherwise dark-haired family, Bonnie was doted on by her older sisters. Bonnie met the love of her life, Louis Cecil (L.C.) Dixon, Jr., in Texas, and they were married on April 25, 1959. Bonnie and L.C. resided in Burleson and together raised three children, Kathy, Kelly, and Alan. Bonnie had an enduring passion for books and worked as the children’s librarian at Frasier Elementary. Later, she became an active member of the Goodrich Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Fort Worth where she made many lifelong friendships.

Bonnie was known for her hospitality and loved cooking, woodworking, ceramics, and sewing. She hosted an annual July 4th party that brought friends and family from great distances to sample her cooking. Above all, Bonnie adored and lived for her five grandchildren. The word “no” was rarely uttered at Nanny’s house. From being allowed to drive cars up and down her gravel driveway at age ten to granting requests for homemade biscuits (not canned!) and gravy, the grandchildren spent a lot of time at Nanny’s house and her loving presence made a big impact in our lives.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Terry McCulloch, and her five sisters: Dorothy, Dorene, Juanita, Trixie, and Thelma. Bonnie is survived by her husband of over sixty years, L.C.; three children, Kathy Miller, Kelly McCulloch; and Alan Dixon and wife, Michelle; Five grandchildren and their spouses; Dixie Lupi, Sally McCulloch, Bailey Peterson, Casey Dixon, and Corey Dixon; and seven great-grandchildren, Eloise, Carter, Mack, Mallie, Caroline, Royce, and Knox.
