Bonnie Taggart

August 29, 1929 — July 24, 2023

Bonnie Mullenix Taggart, 93, of Egan, Texas, peacefully reunited with her Savior in Heaven on July 24, 2023. She was born to Ferman Harry and Della Dimple Callie (Sawyer) Mullenix on August 29, 1929 in Durant, Oklahoma.

Bonnie was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church, and community. As a devout believer, she graciously shared her love of God through her steadfast faith and intercession for others.

She was a longtime member of the Alvarado Order of Eastern Star and a dedicated member of Bethesda Baptist Church since 1979. At Bethesda, she cherished spending her Sunday mornings having a fresh cup of coffee and sharing in fellowship with the Sunshine Class. When she was no longer able to attend Sunday services in person, Bonnie looked forward to Monday morning Bible studies with Pastor Allen and her friends who quickly became like family at Allegiant Wellness and Rehab in Crowley.

Bonnie married the love of her life, Ken, in April of 1947 and was a devoted wife for more than 62 years. She dedicated her life to taking care of Ken and their four children; she built a warm and loving home that remained an anchor for her family for decades to come. Her enduring legacy of love and family is unmistakable and reflected in the love and strong family ties shared by her children and grandchildren today.

A creative spirit, Bonnie had numerous hobbies and interests throughout her life. Whether she was teaching her grandchildren to cook or bake, digging holes and growing acorns into towering oaks, or writing endless pages of everything from recipes to her favorite Bible verses, she always found ways to make each day meaningful. She loved crafting, and her grandchildren will always fondly remember working on innumerable projects during their time spent at "Grandmother and Granddaddy's." Of all the past-times Bonnie enjoyed, the endless hours spent sitting around her kitchen table recounting stories from the past or discussing the day-to-day always topped the list.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Louis D. Mullenix, grandson, Steven Wayne Taggart, and grandson-in-law, Sancho Bartels.

Bonnie is survived by her sons: Bill Taggart (Brenda) of Alvarado, Wayne Taggart (Irene) of Egan, Les Taggart (Gale) of Fort Worth, and her daughter, Pat Hite (Bill) of Austin. Grandchildren: Lisa Neaves, Angela Bartels, Brian Taggart, Shanna Clark (Quentin), Christy Gardner (Larry), Kristy Harrell (Dustin), and Tricia Anderson (Nik). She is also deeply loved by numerous great and great-great grandchildren as well as multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Family and friends blessed to be loved by Bonnie are invited to her viewing on Monday, July 31, 2023 from 6-8pm at Mountain Valley Funeral Home (3407 Southwest Wilshire Blvd, Joshua, TX 76058). Services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Bethesda Baptist Church (100 W. Bethesda Rd. Burleson, TX 76028) with interment to follow.

The family would like to express their endless appreciation and gratitude to Bonnie's wonderful caregivers during her time at Allegiant. They loved her like she was their own, and she absolutely loved them right back.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bonnie's name to the Bethesda Baptist Church Benevolence Fund or the American Cancer Society.

“And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.”

Ecclesiastes 12:7
