FORT WORTH -- Buel Edward Bledsoe, 84, a retired property tax consultant, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, in Fort Worth after a lengthy illness. Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Altamesa Church of Christ. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, dontions may be made in memory of Edward Bledsoe to Southwest Christian School. Edward was born April 10, 1924, in Ashdown, Ark., to Martin Luther and Ethel Mae Ware Bledsoe. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He married Virginia Burgess on Jan. 11, 1963, in Fort Worth. Edward graduated from Iowa State in the B12 program with an electrical engineering degree and worked in the engineering and property tax field, all of those years spent in Fort Worth. Edward served in the U.S. Navy from January 1942 until 1946 on the USS Tumult, a minesweeper, as a radar technician, which at that time was a top secret new field. During World War II he served both the Pacific and European theaters, receiving both the Purple Heart for severe wounds and the Silver Star for bravery. After rehabilitation, he was shipped out to California and while in route he was involved in a train wreck which again lead to very severe injuries. He was a longtime member of the Altamesa Church of Christ where he attended worship regularly. He was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Bledsoe. Survivors: Wife of 45 years, Mary Virginia Bledsoe of Fort Worth; children, Gayle Faram and husband, David, Wes Jackson and wife, Brenda, Holli Davis and husband, Greg, Bryan Bledsoe and wife, Emma; sisters, Martha Sisler and Norma Bledsoe; brother, Norman Bledsoe; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
