Carl Morris Riisager

JOSHUA -- Carl Morris Riisager, 71, of Joshua, a retired carpenter, died Thursday, April 9, 2009, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Caddo Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Carl was born Dec. 18, 1937, in Tyler, Minn., to Morris and Vera Pedersen Riisager. He married Sharron Slay on March 28, 1987, in Bedford. Carl was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Carl proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He also served and retired as a master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force Reserves after 32 years of service. He loved working around the house and building things. He also was an avid poker player. Preceded in death by his father; sister, Myrna Schentzel; brother, Earl Riisager. Survivors: Wife, Sharron Riisager of Joshua; mother, Vera Riisager of Buffalo, Minn.; sons, Russell Riisager of Burleson, Robert Riisager of Dallas, Michael Riisager and wife, Ginger, of Springtown; daughter, Carol Cross and husband, Jim, of Cleburne; stepsons, Rob Brown of Graham, Drew Brown of Joshua; stepdaughter, Hollye Brown and husband, Thomas, of Granbury; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson; best friend, Bill Sanders; brothers, Ron Riisager and wife Donna of Elk River Minn., Chris Riisager and wife Gail of Gable S.C., Gary Riisager and wife Joan of Foreston, Minn.; sister, Linda Nece and husband Gary of Minnetonka Minn.; uncle, Neil Pedersen of Colton, Ca.
