EL PASO -- Carrie Ethel Barnes, 85, of El Paso, a homemaker, died Thursday Jan. 22, 2009, in El Paso. Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 390 S.E. John Jones Drive, Burleson. Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Carrie was born Jan. 27, 1923, in Parsons, Kan., to Boyd C. and Carrie Ethel Goodhue Reasor. Carrie was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She was a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Camarillo, Calif., Post #741. Carrie loved sewing, painting and spending time with her family as they were important to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Charles A. Barnes; daughter, Penny Jo Barnes; and son, U.S. Navy Reserve Cmdr. Charles M. Barnes. Survivors: Son, Lt. Col. Joseph S. Barnes and wife, Guadalupe, of El Paso; daughters, Judith E. Steen of Ventura, Calif., and Patricia J. Morris and husband, Matthew, of Joshua; daughter-in-law, Mariel Ann Zost Barnes of Rexburg, Idaho; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
