BURLESON -- Cecil Deward Jenkins Jr., 84, of Burleson, a retired installer, died Saturday, June 5, 2010, in Arlington. Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Burleson. Interment: Godley Cemetery in Godley. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Cecil was born April 7, 1926, in Burleson to Cecil Deward Sr. and Iris Derr Jenkins. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Cecil graduated from Godley High School in 1944. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army 25th Division, 35th Infantry Regiment, during World War II. He married Betty Ellington on April 26, 1953, in Frost. Cecil loved fishing, gardening, golf and traveling. Cecil worked for Western Electric and later for Lucent as an installer. He loved his family very much and enjoyed his time with them. Survivors: Wife of 57 years, Betty Jenkins of Burleson; son, Kevin Jenkins and wife, Sheila, of Aledo; daughter, Juli Gafford and husband, Dwain, of Burleson; granddaughter, Brooke White and husband, Don; great-grandson, Garrett White; grandsons, Matt Jenkins and wife, Brittany, Josh Jenkins; sister, Anna Faye Turn and husband, A.J.; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
