BURLESON -- Charles Leon Baker, 76, of Burleson, a retired maintenance superintendent, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010, in Alvarado. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Friday in Heath Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mission Hospice. Charles was born Feb. 11, 1934, in Blum to Guy Leon and Ruth Baker. Charles proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He had a good sense of humor and was loved by all his nursing staff. Charles loved fishing on Lake Whitney and working in the yard. He was also a very devoted worker and never missed a day of work. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Baker in 2006; parents; sister, Mary Wade; brother, Clayton Baker. Survivors: Sons, Charles Cameron Baker and wife, Mary, of Fort Worth, George Lee Selby; daughters, Claudia Ann Hines of Fort Worth, Cynthia Lee Smeltzer of Fort Worth; brother, Benny Gene Baker and wife, Mary, of Venus; sister, Zelith Marie Hays and husband, Ray, of Coppell; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
