Charles Robert Bills, age 81, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 .
Charles, lovingly known as “PopPop” to his grandchildren, was born to Anna Lee and Charles Leonard Bills on July 15, 1940 in Norton, Kansas. He grew up there and then went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree in engineering at Kansas State University followed by his Master’s degree at Oklahoma State University .
He worked at General Dynamics for almost 10 years and then went to work at Bell Helicopter as an engineer in 1974, designing projects like the Osprey V-22 tilt rotor aircraft, until he retired in May of 2004.
He was a faithful lover of Jesus and loved reading and studying God’s Word. He became an online missionary through Global Media Outreach as an e-mail correspondent and reached many people across the world with the love of Jesus & His Word.
He enjoyed finding solutions to very complicated problems and found joy in fixing lots of things, from working on vehicles, his children’s toys, a neighbor’s lawnmower, or a big project at his job.
His taste in music was widely varied which ranged from Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash to the Gaithers and lots of classical including Bach, Beethoven, & Haydn.
He had an enormous sense of humor, which could be very dry at times and you had to be paying attention to catch it, but when you did you’d both be laughing hysterically.
