Charles H. Burns, 83, of Joshua, a retired heavy equipment mechanic for Lone Star Gas, died Monday, May 16, 2011, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: 2 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Lipan. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Charles Herman Burns was born May 10, 1928, in Lipan to Charles Edward and Mabel Mae Neagle Burns. He married Kathleen Robinson on Jan. 15, 1946, in Granbury. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the occupation of Japan. He liked shooting firearms, making knives, watching TV game shows and taking care of the family cemetery plots. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one son-in-law; two grandchildren; and his wife of 62 years, Kathleen Robinson Burns, in 2008. Survivors: Sons, Martin Lee Burns of Joshua and Jimmy Charles Burns and wife, Betty, of Argyle; daughters, Peggy Nell McCarley and husband, Dwight, of Joshua and Patty Kay DeAnda of Irving; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
