Charles Edward Engstrom, 66, of Burleson, a retired business owner, passed away Jan. 22, 2012 in Burleson. Memorial Service: 2 pm Sunday at Boulevard Baptist Church in Burleson; Reception to follow. Chuck was born June 3, 1945 in Rock Island, Ill. to Charles and Betty Gene Gilmore Engstrom. Chuck retired after 20+ years in the linen business to start two retirement businesses: Rocky Ridge Apparel and Casino @Home. Chuck's family was his focus in his life. He travelled to Arizona to care for his mother, visited in Des Moines with his children and grandchildren for summer vacations and special birthdays each year, and made special trips to Molene, IL each year to visit with four of his favorite Aunts. He and Aly cruised every year and loved that they could take the same route and be in the same balcony room year after year. Chuck loved to play poker and had standing games with friends in Cleburne, Alvarado and Whiskey Flats, many of whom are saddened that they did not get one more game, so that they could get their money back. Chuck was dedicated to giving back to the community that he loved and supported Aly in fundraising for cancer patients in Johnson County. He told everyone that he was not born in Texas, but he did the next best thing and married a Texan. He loved the spirit of Texas and Burleson where he loved and befriended a multitude of good people. The family request that in Lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Athena Society of Burleson, Chuck Engstrom Memorial Fund. His last wish was to raise the funds needed to purchase a blanket warmer for patients receiving chemo/infusion treatments at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, at Huguley Memorial Medical Center. Your contributions will help make that wish come true. Survivors: Wife, Aly Engstrom of Burleson; mother, Betty J.
