Joshua - Colonel Walter James Brown, Sr. USAF Retired, of Joshua died Tuesday December 9, 2008 at his residence. Graveside Service: 2:30 P.M. Monday December 15, 2008 in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Grand Prairie. Walter James Brown was born December 12, 1921 in Dunmore, Oklahoma to Walter Hugh and Alice Elizabeth Sullivan Brown. He married Mary Josephine Terry on August 25, 1945 in Houston, Texas. He was a Catholic. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during WW II, Korea, and Vietnam. During his military career he was awarded two Legions of Merit, the distinguished Flying Cross with two oak leaf clusters, Distinguished Air Medal with thirteen oak leaf clusters, the Meritorious Service Award, and the Air Force Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters. After his retirement from the Air Force, he graduated from the TCU Ranch Management School, bailed Hay, built houses, and trained pilots for American Airlines for twelve years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved baseball, golf, and babies. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John Joseph Brown, two grandchildren, Bryan and Benjamin Brown, and a great grandchild, Hurley Faulkenberry. Survivors: Wife, Mary Jo Brown of Joshua; sons, Walter James Brown Jr. and wife, Kathlyn of Coronado, California, John Michael Brown and wife, Patricia of Corpus Christi, Terry Sullivan of Marble Head, Massachusetts, Matthew Benjamin Brown and wife, Cindy of College Station; daughters, JoAnn Robbins of Redding, California, Marilyn Kay Dardenne and husband, Richard of Benbrook, Jeanne Elizabeth Dininger of Arlington; grandchildren, Jay, Glynnis, Patrick, Shannon, Emily, Adam, Samuel, Rory, Kelley, Christopher, Tom, Sarah, Rick, Cory, Mary, Rachael, Marjorie, Michael, Daniel, Heather, Ashleigh; great grandchildren, Abbey Jo, Zoe', Braden, Finley, Tate, William, Preston, Asher.
