Darline L (Davis) Brand

Darline L. Davis was born in Grandview, Texas on October 16, 1928, to Fred Monroe and Gertrude Davis. She passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, on June 4, 2023, surrounded by family.

Darline grew up in the Grandview-Maypearl area with her parents and nine siblings. Joe, Charlie, James (J.R.), Dee, Larry Gene, Wayne, Angie, Pam, and Linda. At the age of 8, while her parents had to be away working Darline took on the responsibility of helping raise her siblings.

Darline worked as a seamstress at Wall’s Industries for 32 years and retired at the age of 72.

Darline met the love of her life in January of 1946, David L. Brand, after he came home from serving in the United States Army. After a whirlwind romance, they married on February 21, 1946, and moved to Alvarado to begin their life. Together they had 4 children, Kent, Margie, Mecca, and Sheree. Darlene was a fierce protecter of her children and a loving and devoted mother. After raising her children, Darline was blessed with 10 grandchildren. Darline enjoyed camping, playing games, telling stories, square dancing, and being around her family. Darline also loved to travel and explore new places with her family. She never met a stranger and made everyone feel loved when they were around.

Darline was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Brand, her parents, her brothers; Joe, Charlie, J.R., Dee, Larry Gene, and sisters; Angie and Pam.

She is survived by her children Kent and Sandra Brand, Margie Phillips, Mecca and husband Charles Cagle, Sheree Harding. Her grandchildren; Jennifer, David, Dianna, Jason, Leshawn, Tray, Tiffany, Angel, Jessica, and Mark. Darline is also survived by 22 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Darline’s infectious laugh and smile will always be remembered by those who love and knew her.
