BURLESON – Darrell D. Pence, 73, died at his home in Burleson, TX on August 17, 2021. He was born May 26, 1948, in Fairbury, IL, the son of Lloyd Pence and Clara (Houser) Pence, and was lovingly raised by his grandmother, Rosie Elizabeth Houser.
Darrell graduated from Chatsworth High School, Class of 1966. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. After the war, he married his high school sweetheart, Jane Wittler, and they settled in Joshua, TX. They celebrated 51 years of marriage on August 15, 2021.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his grandparents, Ed and Rosie Houser and Stanley and Lueva Pence, and his three sisters, Shelby Schmidt, Madeline (Pence) Smithson and Janine (Schmidt) Little. Surviving in addition to his wife, Jane (Wittler) Pence, are his son, Derrick Pence and his wife, Tami, of Cleburne; daughters, Beth (Pence) Cardwell and her husband, Jacob, of Burleson, and Jordan (Pence) Cofer of Burleson; seven grandchildren, Chase Pence and his wife Amanda, Kolt Pence and his wife Meredith, Logan (Pence) Gaida and her husband Jarrod, Hadley Cardwell, Makinley Cardwell, Sloane Cofer and Adler Cofer; four great-grandchildren, Faith Pence, Eli Pence, Koe Pence and Harper Pence; three sisters, Ramona (Schmidt) Ross and her husband Bobby, Debra (Schmidt) Kennedy and her husband Ron, and Roxann (Schmidt) Tidwell and her husband Dale; one brother, Arthur Schmidt, Jr. and his wife, Mary; many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 25 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 100 SW Alsbury Blvd. in Burleson. Eulogy and reception to immediately follow in the parish hall.
