DAVID HOWARD ASLAUER
David Howard Aslauer (Danny) was born January 30, 1928 in The Bronx, New York and passed away June 3, 2023. He was born to Bessie (Grossman) and Max Aslauer. He was the younger brother of Miriam (deceased at 13 years), and the older brother of Sonia Rita Aslauer Kaye (Michael). He married Myra Ellen Kaplan in 1957. He is survived by daughters Abbe Aslauer and Jill Aslauer Frosch (James), Granddaughters Amy Wooten and Leslie McCary, Great-Grandchildren Chesley, Charlie and Harris Wooten. He was a beloved Uncle to Mitchell Kaye (Fay), Susan Kaye Resnick (Michael) and Steven Kaye (Stacy) and Great Uncle to six nieces and nephews and had close ties to special cousins, Mayda Idone and Allen Swerdlick.
David graduated from DeWitt Clinton H.S. in The Bronx and entered the Navy. After his service he went to The Fashion Institute in New York to train in fur design and manufacturing and joined his father in the family business manufacturing fur garments for the elite fashion market as well as for private clientele. Later, selling the business, he worked as a furrier for corporations and department stores in various capacities.
With the death of his father, Max, he supported his mother and young sister for many years.
Danny was a musician playing the clarinet and saxophone from elementary school through high school, and performed with small bands, high school orchestras as well as during his time in the Navy. His knowledge of music both popular and classical was extensive. He was an expert fisherman taught by his father and excelled in the sport both in deep sea and freshwater fishing.
He was a devoted Son, Brother, Husband, Father and Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle and Cousin. He had a tender heart for all and is well remembered for his sense of humor. His personality and strength of character enabled him to have special, caring relationships with those who knew him. For all this, his name will endure and our memories of him will ensure he will be missed and remembered.
