David W. James

July 16, 1963 — August 9, 2020

Burleson

David W. James, 57, of Burleson Texas traveled first class to his final destination on August 9, 2020 after a short battle with cancer. Upon departure, his beloved wife and children were by his side. Upon arrival, he was greeted with overwhelming hugs and kisses from family and friends that were waiting for him, especially his best friend Mark.

David was born in Dallas on July 16, 1963 to Charles and Maurie James. He grew up in Burleson, Texas and graduated from Burleson High School in 1981. As a child, David loved the summers he spent on his grandparent’s farm and on the ranch in Brownwood.  He developed the love for all things outdoors, especially snakes! He learned to farm, hunt, fish, but most important the value of family and hard work.

David furthered his education in the field of Engineering. David was Director of Sales and Product Engineering at West Coast Quartz in Fremont, California. David loved his job and considered everyone he worked with his family. David was an easy going problem solver with innovative ideas and highly respected by his peers and clients. He traveled to many different countries, enjoying the sites, culture and cuisine.

David loved to travel, and his favorite trips were those with his family. He took his children on many adventures and shared his passion for snowboarding and kayaking with his son. He tried to include his wife and daughter in his snowboarding trips, but everyone had way more fun if the guys snowboarded and the girls just shopped!! David loved taking his granddaughter on annual summer trips of her choosing: the beach, San Francisco, Disney World and her first cruise.  When David decided he no longer wanted to kayak, he donated his kayaks and equipment to be used by military veterans with emotional and physical disabilities.

On November 11, 2011 David married Kathy, his soul mate and the love of his life. Together they blended a family and built a life that was complete. David’s whole world was his wife and children until his precious Kennadi came along. “GranDavid” was the title he honored and cherished the most. She was his shadow and whatever he was doing she wanted to do it with him. He supported her dream of being a YouTuber by starring in her “GranDavid and Me” videos. David also loved chasing his twin grandsons around and catching them for hugs and kisses. Their laughter made his heart smile. David was looking forward to the birth of his grandson, Walker, and will be watching over him as he joins his beloved family.

David is survived by his parents, his wife, Kathy, daughter Sydney Rushing and husband Odell, son Harrison James and wife Paige, bonus son Jon Allen and wife Aubrey, bonus daughter Mandi Allen, his sweet grandchildren Kennadi, Drew and Bryce, sister Charlene Masch and nephews Reilly and Taylor.

David was a great son, husband, father, GrandDavid, and friend. He will be missed by so all those that loved him and the many lives he touched through his generosity and giving nature.
