BURLESON -- With sadness and love, the family of David Allen Reeves announces his passing from this life into the hands of our heavenly Father. He died at his home in Burleson on Thursday, March 15, 2012, following a heroic three-year battle with cancer. Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday First United Methodist Church of Burleson. Interment: Cope Cemetery near Lillian. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Huguley Hospital or to your favorite charity. David was born Aug. 16, 1956, at Hamilton Air Force Base Hospital in California, to Jerry W. and June North Reeves. His family spent three years in Libya, where his first memory was swimming in the clear, blue Mediterranean Sea. Some of his happiest childhood years were spent in Tucson, Ariz., where he explored the desert with his two older brothers, making forts and catching snakes. His family finally settled in Burleson, where he graduated from Burleson High School in 1975. David married Teresa Selman on June 12, 1982, and spent 30 years providing for and devoting himself to his wife and daughter. He loved John Wayne, bargaining at the car dealership, all the newest electronic gadgets, his grandmother's sweet beet pickles, golf, a medium-rare steak, fishing, keeping a super-green lawn, and most of all time with his family, especially three grandchildren who affectionately call him "PaPa." The family extends much gratitude to Dr. Michael Ross of the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and to the Rev. Mike Love for their guidance and compassion. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Wayne Reeves Jr.; and parents, Jerry and June Reeves. Survivors: David is survived by his wife of 30 years, Teresa F. Reeves of Burleson; daughter, Sonya Wray and husband, Steven, of Burleson; grandchildren, Adam, Jenna and Erin Wray; brothers, Rob Reeves and wife, Carla, and Guy Reeves and wife, Kristie; sister, Teresa Amason; a number of beloved nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.
