David Frederick Vineberg

April 19, 1954 — May 1, 2024

David Frederick Vineberg, 70, passed away on May 1, 2024. David was born on April 19th, 1954, in Fort Worth, Texas, where he spent his formative years. David was a Jack of All Trades, where he always had a project or two in the works. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others. David never met a stranger and was always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others.
Hobbies included fisher extraordinaire with his most recent focus being his beloved boat, The Brazos Draggin', fully committed to fish every lake in the state of Texas. He had a voracious passion for cacti and didn't mind propagating them to share with anyone who would accept them. David was a tinkerer and could find treasures in any flea market, estate sale, or any pile of junk on the side of the road. David also had a keen interest for woodworking and loved creating specialty pieces for family members.
David loved camping with his family and was a proud registered Girl Scout of America (troupe 2110 baby!), going on trips with his daughter's troupe offering lessons and guidance in whittling sticks, and building and cooking over fire, as he loved nothing more than talking all things culinary and making what would become a staple in his family's and friend's homes. Greatest hits in cooking included fried cinnamon sugar doughnuts, world-famous bacon, and pepper jelly, winning the Texas State Fair Blue Ribbon 3 times over.
More than anything, David's most famous role was PawPaw to his grandchildren Hattie and Lane. In their words: "PawPaw loved cactus and taught us how to take care of them. He taught us things that most people didn't know how to do, like making jelly and carving soap. He made all of his silly voices and taught us how to talk like Donald Duck. He had the best jokes. He was the nicest and best person. He spent so much time with us and taught us that kindness is important. He made friends no matter where he went like the rodeo, Old South Pancake House, and even at the plant shop where he loved to buy his cactus. He loved to serve and share his talents with others. You could find him every Christmastime wrapping lights at Staples Elementary to prep for the Lights Drive Thru. Some of the staff and students called him an "honorary school dad!"
David is survived by Stevie Vineberg; Kate, Ron, Hattie, and Lane Howell; Emily and Spencer Campbell; Aaron Evans and Sara Thompson; and Debbie, Elena, and Shams Kitz, as well as many friends whom he considered family, including his brother from another mother, Peter Grader. His memory and gigantic spirit will be forever cherished by all who knew and loved him.
