Delbert Ray Odom

July 5, 1941 — April 23, 2024

Delbert Ray Odom, born on July 5, 1941, in Byers, Texas, peacefully passed away on April 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and son. Delbert was a beacon of light in the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Growing up on his parents' farm alongside his eight siblings, Delbert developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for family. After attending school in Wichita Falls, Texas, he answered the call to serve his country, joining the army in 1958.
In 1964, Delbert married the love of his life, Dee Ann (Ireland) Odom, with whom he shared countless adventures. Together, they embarked on travels, Delbert indulged in his passions for woodworking, golf, and fishing, and built a life filled with laughter and love.
Delbert's dedication extended beyond his family life. After retiring from a distinguished 20-year career at Lockheed Martin, he became a pillar of the Burleson community as the proud owner of Old Town Smoke House and the Old Town Malt Shoppe. Through his business ventures, he breathed new life into Old Town Burleson, leaving an indelible mark on the town he cherished.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Dee Ann (Ireland) Odom; his son, Derek Odom; his brother, Jessie Odom; and his sisters, Nelda Tuggle, Doris Bartosh, and Carolyn Howard. He was adored by numerous nieces and nephews and was a father figure to many.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Opal (Maness) Odom; his brothers, Coy, Wilburn, and Curtis Odom; sisters, Geneva Morgan and Mary Doresy; and his son, Darren Odom.
But Delbert's true legacy lies in the hearts of those he touched. Known for his infectious laughter, boundless generosity, and unwavering kindness, he was a father figure to many and a source of joy to all who crossed his path.
While we mourn the loss of Delbert, we find solace in the memories we shared and the legacy he leaves behind. His spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
