Dennis Loy Kurtz
December 19, 1950 — August 16, 2019
Dennis Loy Kurtz was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota on December 19, 1950 to Darrel and Cora (Jensen) Kurtz. He earned his final passport stamp early Friday morning August 16, 2019 as he was transported to his heavenly home surrounded by his family.
Dennis grew up on the Kurtz family farm with his parents and seven siblings. Myrtle and John Blocker, Shirley and Tom Simon, Lois and Victor Schwahn, Karon Kurtz, Duane Kurtz, Connie Olson and Darwin "Hank" and Joyce Kurtz.
Dennis attended Joan of Arc grade school and played Little League baseball. He graduated from Groton High School in 1969. He then began working for Goodyear. Later he moved and attended Cheyenne Aero Tech in Wyoming.
In January of 1988, he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to work for American Airlines. It was here in Tulsa, he met and married the love of his life, Sue! Dennis loved his family, both Kurtz and Hurst deeply. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a tender grandpa, a giving brother, and kind uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Dennis was a strong Christian man and loved serving others. He was faithful to spend time in God's word daily. Dennis also loved traveling with his wife Sue. They had many great adventures and traveling and exploring God's creation here on earth made him so happy. He also loved construction work. He was also ready with his tools anytime someone had a project! He loved working side by side with Sue and their families. Dennis retired from American Airlines May 31, 2019 after 31 years of service. The next day they moved to Texas as was their retirement dream.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Darrel and Cora Kurtz, his sister Myrtle Blocker and his brother Darwin "Hank" Kurtz.
He is survived by his wife Sue Kurtz and four children.
Steve Kurtz and wife Carey and their children Alex, Ariana, Khyle and Emily of Claremore, Oklahoma.
Stacy Rogers and husband Chris of Crowley, Texas.
Tessa and Joshua Junevicus of Colorado.
Jared Kurtz of New Mexico.
