BURLESON -- Donal Ray Turner, 66, a retired fire fighter for the city of Fort Worth, died peacefully Wednesday morning, June 29, 2005, at his residence. Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Burleson. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth. Celebration of life service: 7 p.m. Thursday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Memorials: The Turner family respectfully suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in his name to the Cancer Education and Research Foundation of Texas, 800 West Magnolia Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76104. Don was born and raised on the north side of Fort Worth. He was a Fort Worth fire fighter for 33 years. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force, where he served as an AP. He was a member of the IAFF, Burleson Masonic Lodge #649, Moslah Shriners of Fort Worth, and was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 549. Don loved to golf, fish, hunt and most of all, play with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, devoted father and loyal friend to many. The family would like to thank Dr. Ross and his staff at Texas Oncology Center at Huguley and Community Hospice of Texas Caretakers Carolyn Roberson and Pauline Baker. Don was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose Hays. Survivors: Wife of 46 years, Ruth; his son, John Turner and wife, Linda; daughter, Cathy and husband, Brad Fowler; brother, Bob Turner and wife, Norma; brother, Gary Turner; grandchildren, Skylar, Haleigh, Taylor, Morgan and Marshall; nephew, Rick Turner and wife; niece, Kristine Sparling and husband; numerous cousins, extended family members; and the brotherhood of the Fort Worth Fire Department.
