The family of Donald Ray Hawpe regretfully and with deep sorrow announce the passing of their beloved husband, father and grandfather on the late evening of July 31 after a long illness.
Donald is survived by his wife, Norma Jo, of 57 years, residing for 52 years on the same street in Jos-u-way, Texas. Don is also survived by four daughters: Donna Renee Pitasi of Granbury; Bobby and Donita Jo Gibson, former husband and long time companion Larry Henley; Kimberly Dawn Bruce and husband Richard Thiebaud and Kristen Kelli Hawpe; two granddaughters: Rebecca Joan Burr and husband Chad and Kassi Dawnielle Bruce; five grandsons: Whitnet Don Pitasi, Bobby Joe Gibson and wife Krystal; Nicholas Wayne Gibson, Ryon Dale Bruce and Reece Don (Hawpe) Sparkman. Great Grandchildren are: Audrey and Taylor Burr and William B Gibson; one sister Lucille Adams of Fort Worth; brothers-in-law William Nichols and family; Michael Nichols and family
Preceded in death by John R. and Beulah B. Hawpe, mother and father; two brothers: John Hawpe and Aron (Bud) Hawpe, both are survivors of WW II and both were gunners on war planes, both shot down over Japan and both were detained in German prison camps. Unknown to each other they were in the same prison camp; one sister Louise Jones (Evan).
Donald attended a year of college, 2 years in the Army and more classes on G.I. Bill. He was an avid cattleman, farmed and loved his work outside while his cattle and pigs ate the garden and flowers. He enjoyed a very fulfilling life. We had numerous nieces, nephews and very many long term friends.
