BURLESON -- Don A. Whitaker, 68, of Burleson, a loved husband, father and grandfather, went home to be with the Lord Friday, September 3, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral: 8 a.m. Wednesday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jim Zornes and Dr. Gene Wolfenbarger will officiate. Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Grand Prairie. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Don was born on Dec. 1, 1941 in Huntsville, Alabama to Johnie and Grace Whitaker. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his father, Johnie Leon Whitaker and his granddaughter, Shelby McMillion. Survivors: Wife, Mary; daughters, Lesa West and husband, David of Belton, Tabatha Hovey and husband, Joe of Topeka, Kansas, Mary Zornes and husband, Jim of Burleson; son, Pat Harris II and wife, Chlorisa of Fort Worth; mother, Grace Whitaker Jones of Joshua; sister, Yvonne Ratliff of Fort Worth; brother, Mike Whitaker of Burleson; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
