Doris Lenore Murren Mathews Doris Mathews, 78, a retired nurse, died on February 3, 2006 at Kindred Hospital in Fort Worth, TX. Mrs. Mathews, the seventh of nine children, was born in Mission Hill, South Dakota on May 16, 1927. On July 15, 1945, she married J.M. Mathews in Leavenworth, Kansas. She attended Howard Payne College in Brownwood, TX, Tarrant County Junior College in Fort Worth, TX, and the University of Texas at Arlington receiving degrees in nursing. Mrs. Mathews worked generally as an Intensive Care nurse. She was a long-time member of Calvary Pentecostal Church in Fort Worth, TX. She enjoyed sewing, crochet, reading, and being among family. Mrs. Mathews was also an avid china painter and was a charter and long time member of the "Forget Me Not" china painters group in Burleson. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, J.M. Mathews of Burleson, TX, and her children Billy Andrew Mathews and wife Sue of Little Elm, TX, James Michael Mathews and wife Judy of San Angelo, TX, Robert Alan Mathews and wife Diane of Georgetown, TX, Bruce Gordon Mathews and wife Cretha of Fairview, TX, Susan Elizabeth (Mathews) Irwin and husband Erik of Burleson, TX, and Phyllis Elaine (Mathews) Bustillos and husband Simon of Alvarado,TX; her siblings Louise (Murren) Morris and Rose-Ann (Murren) Hathaway; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Doris Mathews was preceded in death by her father and mother, Leroy and Iris (Northrup) Murren; her siblings Phyllis Murren, Donald Murren, Lowell Murren, Harriet (Murren) Geegh-Eisenburg, Lee Murren, and Margaret (Murren) Johnson. A viewing will be held on Sunday, February 5th from 2-4pm at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Joshua, TX. The funeral service will take place at Calvary Pentecostal Church in Fort Worth, TX on Monday, February 6th, 2006 at 11am. A graveside service at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Grand Prairie will follow.
