Dorothy Jean Dobson

Dorothy Dobson, 86, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on April 23, 2021 after a courageous and graceful battle with cancer.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Mountain Valley Funeral Home located at 3407 Southwest Wilshire Boulevard in Joshua.  There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 10:00 am at Laurel Land in Fort Worth.

Dorothy was born in Jacksboro, Texas to Jasper and Florence Shields on December 16, 1934.  She married the love of her life, Lawrence Dobson, on June 28, 1954.  Lawrence preceded her in death in 2011. In addition to being a devoted wife, she was a loving mother to her two daughters. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Crowley for 48 years.  She was also active in Crowley Eastern Star #1125 for many years.

In her younger years she enjoyed playing volleyball and basketball and was an avid reader throughout her entire life. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and word search puzzles.  In high school she was voted class favorite, due to her infectious sweet spirit. She continued to touch the lives of those she met throughout her life. She had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and displayed that even in her final days.

Survivors: Her loving daughters, Penny White and husband John, Vicki Rhoades and husband, Mark, all from Burleson, Texas; Grandchildren, Kaylee Matus and husband Zachary, Andrew Rhoades, Macy Hart and husband Hunter.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Community Healthcare of Texas and Community Hospice House at Huguley for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hospice House at Huguley located at 301 Medpark Circle, Burleson, Texas 76028.
