Dorothy Frances Johnson, 80, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014. Service: 10 a.m. Thursday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial: Burleson Memorial Park. Visitation: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, please send memorials in memory of Dorothy to Burleson Church of Christ. Dorothy was born June 27, 1934, in Dallas to Raymond and Myrle Burns. Dorothy grew up in Hillsboro, and moved to Burleson in 1959 with her husband Weldon, and family, where she was a longtime resident, and a member of Burleson Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Weldon "Red" Johnson, in 1987; and son, Keith, in 1978. Dorothy was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. One of her favorite traditions was going on family camping trips as her children were growing up. She loved her family and especially favored her two sons-in-law. With her wit and sense of humor she pretended to keep a scoreboard of "son-in-law points." When the final tally was revealed, the score ended in a tie, and both were winners in her eyes. Survivors: Daughters, Carolyn Jackson, and husband, Don, Elaine Lemmons and husband, Carlon; son, Glenn; grandsons, Michael, Zachery and Christopher; granddaughters, Abbie, Molly and Meredith; several great-grandchildren; brother, James Burns and wife, Wanda; sister-in-law, Jess Overby and husband, Bill; and many other family members, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
