Dorothy Jean Welch

On November 16, 2024 Dorothy Jean Lomax Welch passed away after a long illness. She was born February 25, 1933 in Rocksprings, Texas to Eric Lomax and wife Dorothy Ellen Buswell Lomax.

Following graduation from Rocksprings High School she married Ben Jack Welch on March 24, 1951. They both devoted their lives to raising their three children Donna, Debbie and Ben, Jr. (Jackie).

Dorothy wore many hats: mom, homemaker, PTA and homeroom mother, vacation Bible school and Sunday school teacher, and Cub Scout leader. Later as her children got older she worked outside the home as a floral designer. She loved crafting including painting rocks and hiding them around Burleson for others to find. Her flower gardens were always gorgeous.

Her greatest love however was her family, including grandchildren Summer Finstad Boudreaux (Randy) and Kayce Finstad Pruitt (Josh) and great grandchildren Hunter Trotter, Trinity Boudreaux, Emma Pruitt, Henlee Pruitt and Brody Pruitt.

Dorothy is also survived by her sister Amy Lomax Donaghe, daughters Donna Keating (Mitchell), Debbie Finstad, and son Ben Welch, Jr.

Her husband Ben Jack Welch, Sr. and parents Eric and Dorothy Lomax preceded her in death.

Visitation is set for Thursday, November 21st at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Joshua from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Graveside service at Burleson Memorial Park is at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22nd.
