We are sad to announce the passing of Duwayne Lewis Capps. He passed away peacefully at the age of 69 surrounded by family and friends. Duwayne was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Tommy Ray Capps and Christine Louise Donawho. He was one of three children, brother Danny and sister Deborah. He graduated from O.D. Wyatt High School in 1972. In 1973 he joined the Navy. Duwayne (Spanky) worked for Miller Brewing Co. for 43 years where he also served as a union steward. He was a volunteer firefighter for the city of Joshua for over 40 years where he served as chief. Duwayne was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He also loved car racing especially the dirt track and Nascar. In 2000 he married Denice, they loved dancing and spending time together. Duwayne was a dedicated family man and was the first to show up for any event whether it was a Christmas party dressed as Santa, family reunions or funerals. He loved his community and was always there to support anyone in times of need. He was preceded in death by his parents, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many more that he loved. Duwayne is survived by his wife Denice, children Rana and Greg, step-children Jimmy and Rachel, 9 grandchildren and many other extended family members and dear friends.
A viewing will be held on August 25th, 2023 at Mountain Valley Funeral Home from 6 pm to 8 pm. Services will be held the following day August 26th, 2023 at 10 am at Mountain Valley funeral home in Joshua, Texas, followed by a graveside service at Hopewell Cemetery.
