Ed spent the early years of his life moving frequently with his parents and siblings from job site to job site with the road construction company his dad worked for.  During this time they lived in small tent communities with the other construction workers.

After Ed’s dad left they moved to Lexington, Texas were they lived for several years and he graduated from Lexington High School in 1948.  He the went to the ranch his grandfather purchased near Water Valley, Texas working under his uncle Cooper.  He loved being a cowboy and working the ranch for about $1.00 a day.  After several years he moved to Burleson to work at the aircraft manufacturing plant General Dynamics, now known as Lockheed Martin.
