BURLESON -- Elizabeth C. Jamison, known to her many friends and family as Betty, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at a Fort Worth hospital. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Monday in Burleson Memorial Park. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Memorials: Memorial donations can be made to Burleson Public Library, 248 SW Johnson Ave., Burleson, Texas 76028, in care of Rodney Bland. Betty was born July 25, 1922, in New Castle, Pa., the eldest of five children born to Jacob H. and Margaret McKenzie Cline. Upon completion of high school, Betty moved to Washington, D.C., and with the assistance of one of her relatives, secured employment with the federal government as a civil service employee. The majority of her federal service was in the finance department of the Office of Price Administration during the World War II years. While living in Washington, Betty met a handsome Marine officer from Texas named Joe Jamison. Joe and Betty married in 1946 and moved to Texas shortly thereafter. After several moves related to Joe's work, they moved to Fort Worth in 1951 and to Burleson in 1961. While she was a dedicated helpmate to Joe and stay-at-home mother to Pat and Kim, Betty also worked during the 1960s and 1970s with Irene Clinkscale at Happy Hours Kindergarten, where she immensely enjoyed teaching pre-school children. She later worked for a number of years at F&M State Bank (now Community Bank) in Burleson and the Burleson Public Library. Betty shared with her children and grandchildren not only her selfless love, but also her values of honesty, hard work, loyalty and patriotism. Betty touched the lives of many, and she will be missed by all who knew her. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Joe and her parents.
