BURLESON -- Ellen Louella Jean, 80, of Burleson, a retired beauty operator, passed away very peacefully Monday, July 12, 2010, with her family and friends by her side. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Burleson Church of Christ. Interment: Rose Hill Cemetery in Cleburne. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Ellen was born July 29, 1929, in Blum to John Wylie and Mammie UpChurch Holt. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. Ellen loved bluegrass music, socializing with her friends at church, shopping, traveling in the motorhome and watching Shawn play the fiddle and Ellicia barrel race. Ellen had a very deep love for the Lord. She was a member of Burleson Church of Christ for 35 years. Ellen started her beauty salon in 1963 and retired in 1995, and it's still in business today in its 47th year. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Jean, after 61 years of marriage, parents, seven brothers and nine sisters. Survivors: Daughter, Vicki Bailey and husband, Gary, of Burleson; grandson, Shawn Bailey of Nashville, Tenn.; granddaughter, Ellicia Bailey of Fort Worth; brother, Leon Holt and wife, Betty, of Rio Vista; sisters, Betty Basye of Cleburne and Elsie Hill and husband, Glen, of Blum; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
