Frances Dolores Kirk, 89, of Joshua, Texas passed away peacefully and with grace at 9:05 P.M. on February 24, 2021 surrounded by family in Grandview, Texas. Dolores was born Frances Dolores Roberson on January 3, 1932 in Hico, Texas to Leo Washington Roberson and Edna Mae Massengale. Her first adventure as a young lady after graduation from Hico High School was to attend nursing school in Waco, Texas. On August 22, 1951, Dolores married Roy Edward Kirk in Hico, Texas.
After starting their family in Fort Worth, Texas, Dolores and Roy moved to Joshua Texas in 1975 where Dolores eventually found her life's job working as a baker for Joshua Independent School District until she thought she was ready to retire. Missing her “kids”, Dolores returned to the school kitchen for several more years before she finally hung up her apron and returned to her retirement life. Dolores then took the opportunity to travel from Disney World to the Rocky Mountains and spend time with her friends, family and grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Edna Mae Roberson, husband Roy Kirk, and sister Bobbie Thompson. Dolores is survived by her three daughters Karen Stoddard and husband Gary of Fort Worth; Dee Anna Williams and husband Glenn of Mérida, Yucatan, Mexico; and Kathy Monk and husband Jeff of Joshua; her grandchildren, Branden, Jeremy, Elissa, Nikole, Joshua and Katharine; great granddaughter Avery; nephew Keith Reed of Temple and niece GayLynn Manning of Waynesboro, PA; and lifelong friend Kay Gray of Joshua.
