BURLESON -- Burleson- Frank L. Smith, 75, passed away peacefully at home on May 3. Funeral: Saturday, May 5, 10:00AM at First Baptist Church Burleson. Dr. Mike Milburn officiating. Visitation: Friday, May 4, 6-8PM at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Interment: Bono Cemetery following service. Frank was born October 27, 1936 at Deer Creek to Guy and Averil Smith. He was a lifelong resident of Burleson, a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the first Burleson High School football team that was inducted into the BISD Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. He met and married the love of his life and wife of 55 years, Barbara Ann Winnett. Frank worked as a welder and supervisor at Thomas Conveyor for 29 years and later opened his own business, Custom Fabricating and Welding, where he continued to teach yet another generation the art of metal fabrication. Frank enjoyed oil painting, hunting, camping and boating, but his true passion was fishing. He was a member of several local bass clubs and a founding member of the Burleson Bass Club. Over the years, his successful fishing career was envied by many of his fellow angler friends. In March of this year, he competed in his final fishing tournament with his grandsons. He will be missed by many and remembered for his friendly smile and competitive spirit. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Don Smith, son Dale Smith and grandson Jordan Smith. Survivors: Wife, Barbara; son, Lee Smith and wife Carol of Aledo; daughter Cindy Powell and husband Mike of Joshua. Grandchildren, Jessie Smith, Jeremy Smith and wife Katie, Gracie Smith, Gabrielle Smith, Michael Powell and Justin Powell. Great-granddaughter, Riley Smith.
