Franklin Eugene Meador

June 12, 1922 — July 25, 2006

BURLESON -- Franklin Eugene Meador, 84, a retired switching equipment technician for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., died Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at a Fort Worth hospital. Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Burleson. Burial: 4 p.m. in New York Community Cemetery in New York, Texas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Texas Cancer Care in Fort Worth. F.E. Meador was born June 12, 1922, in LaRue, to Irk Murphey and Eula Mae Dingler Meador. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Janie Boles on April 1, 1944, in Marion, Ark. He enjoyed camping and fishing. He was a former member of Golden Gate Baptist Church in Fort Worth, where he sang in the choir, and was most recently a member of Alsbury Baptist Church in Burleson, where he had been very active as a deacon for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Wanda Watters and Gwen Riegel. Survivors: Wife of 62 years, Janie Meador of Burleson; son, Gary Meador and wife, Joyce, of Burleson; daughter, Lanetta Bridschge and husband, Don, of Burleson; brother, Charles Donald Meador and wife, Barbara, of LaRue; sisters, Dolores Meador of Tyler, Evelyn Thomas of Houston, Merle Meador of Tyler and Carolyn Schmidt of Diboll; grandchildren, Kenneth Ray Meador, Michelle Martin, Melissa Willson, Marie Johnson and Meredith Bridschge; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
