Galen Francis Atkinson was born in Meade, Kansas on September 16, 1960, to Irvin and Pauline (Hoskinson) Atkinson. He passed away on Monday afternoon of April 29, 2024, at his home in Burleson, Texas.
Galen grew up on the Atkinson family farm in Plains, Kansas with his parents and sister, Linda (Atkinson) Burris.
Galen attended Plains Elementary School and graduated from Southwestern Heights High School in 1978. Following graduation from high school, Galen attended Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas for undergraduate school, where he received a degree in electrical engineering technology. In 1981, while attending school there, he met and married the love of his life, Rhonda (Worcester) Atkinson. In 1995, Galen received his Masters of Business Administration from University of Texas, Dallas. Galen loved his family, both Atkinson and Worcester deeply. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a tender grandpa, a giving brother, and kind uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Galen was a strong Christian man and loved serving his church in Granbury, Texas (Promise Point Church) and others. He was also an active member of the Lions Club in Burleson, Texas, where he frequently volunteered to perform vision screenings for elementary school age children. Galen retired from Lockheed Martin in August of 2021 after 39 years of service and spent time with his wife Rhonda, three children, four grandchildren and restoring his tractor.
Galen was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Pauline Atkinson.
He is survived by wife, Rhonda Atkinson and three children.

Jennifer Boepple, her husband Brandon and their son Judah of Cypress, Texas.
Phillip Atkinson of Burleson, Texas.
Galen will live forever in our hearts.
