BURLESON -- Gene Conard Wheat, 75, a retired heavy equipment operator for Steed Construction Co. of 35 years, died March 17, 2008, in Fort Worth. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Dr. Terry William officiating. Honorary pallbearers: Ryan Payne, Jon Paul Wheat, Taylor Payne, Shane Wheat, Zachary Wheat, Cameron Wheat, Chris Ward, Eric Kocurek, and Omar Kocurek. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Burleson. Gene Conard Wheat was born Aug. 17, 1932, in McGregor to John Paul and Dreeby Beatrice Whatley Wheat. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Frances Charlene Kocurek on Oct. 27, 1956 in Rosenberg. Gene liked gardening, traveling, operating his farm equipment, and had a wonderful spirit of giving. He was a Baptist. He leaves many to cherish their precious memories of loving him. Survivors: Wife, Frances; son, Gene Conway and wife, Connie; daughter, Janet Ann and husband, Hoby; brothers, James Edward, Larry Paul and wife, Shirley; grandchildren, Ryan Scott and wife, Brenda, Jon Paul, Kamella Nicole, Jeremiah Taylor; great grandchildren, Alexis Renee, Tyler Scott, Makenzie Ryanne; and his dog, Sarg.
