JOSHUA -- George "Lizard" Lackey, 69, of Joshua, an electrical contractor in the Burleson area since 1968, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2008, after living courageously with melanoma cancer for six years. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Burleson Church of Christ. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to Community Hospice of Texas, M.D. Anderson Hospital or the American Cancer Society. George William Lackey was born July 18, 1938, in Littlefield to Howard Charlie and Lucile Nabers Lackey. He married Linda Lou Lee on Sept. 18, 1958, in Hurst. George was a member of Burleson Church of Christ. He was the most wonderful and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, friend and mentor to many. He lived life to the fullest, never letting the cancer change his life for one minute. He was a leader and inspiration to everyone who knew him and was "Daddy" to many many children. He lived a life of faith, loved the Lord and is now home where he wants to be. His grandchildren were the light of his life, as he was to them. Survivors: Wife of 50 years, Linda Lou Lackey of Joshua; son, Howard Lee Lackey and wife, Lisa, of Joshua; daughter, Tanya Kilgore and husband, Paul, of Burleson; mother, Lucile Lackey of Burleson; brother, Larry Lackey and wife, Linda, of Joshua; grandchildren, Carson Porter of Burleson, Lauren Lackey of Joshua, Sarah Beth Porter of Burleson, Tyler Lackey of Joshua, Montana Kilgore of Burleson and Faith Ann Kilgore of Burleson; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members; and a host of friends.
