George Horton Stanley, 87, retired from this life on September 25, 2023, in the arms of his daughter at his home in Joshua, Texas.
George was born October 20, 1935, in Tahoka, Texas to Rufus Franklin Stanley and Ruth Ellen Smith.

Upon his return to the state, this is where he met the love of his life, Linda Sue Goodwin, of Burleson, Texas. They married January 1, 1961, at a family members home. From 1961-1962 they were stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana. George was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Expert Badge (Rifle) and Expert Badge (Carbine), along with several unit pins.
In 1966, George welcomed his only child, Lisa Murlene Stanley into this world. His nickname for her was "Hey babe".
