In loving memory of
Gilbert Dean Edgett, son, brother, husband, father, papa and friend.
Gil left to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 5, 2023. He passed surrounded by his loved ones. The family finds comfort knowing he will spend eternity fishing in heaven.
Gil was born in Nebraska at the home of his grandparents on November 6, 1945, to Lloyd and Irene Edgett.
The family moved to California in 1956 before settling in Texas in 1971.
Gil is remembered for his love for God, family, and fishing, his skill in craftsmanship, and the ability to make anyone smile. Gil was proud of his carpentry and has left behind many pieces of his amazing work.
He was a man devoted to God, and he actively served his church and community. Gil had a special way of making everyone laugh and loved goofing around with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Irene Edgett; brothers David and Larry; his wife Mary Edgett; and daughter Mandy Edgett.
Gil is survived by his sister Beverly Edgett Findley; daughter Traci Edgett; Linda Edgett, mother of Traci and Mandy; stepdaughters Norma Bazhaw, Hope Aguilar, and Kristen Hammer; stepson Tony Aguilar; 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and countless family members and friends.
Matthew 4:19
And He saith unto them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Gil to Troy Brewer Ministries at Open Door Church for their work to fight human trafficking.
